[THREAD] 👇 Two Americans temporarily moved to Kuwait on March 8 and have since become stranded. Flights are prohibitively expensive, and the country has entered a 24-hour lockdown.

Klement and Linda Camaj, two Americans, temporarily moved to Kuwait on March 8.

"It was by far the most surreal thing I've ever experienced," said Linda, who said she waited in line on May 9 for six hours with her husband. They were wrong. By the time they realised they were essentially trapped, there were no available flights out. And with no local ID, they were at the back of the line for food.

The alerts, viewed by Business Insider, included curfew information and possible departing flights available through several airlines. 'We would love to be able to go back to New York, we would love to,' Linda Camaj said. 'But we don't have $10,000.' The US Embassy has been unable to help, and the couple now plans to travel to Europe before figuring out a way home.
