Nottingham's controversial Christmas market has "temporarily" closed - just one day after it opened.
The decision for the market to go ahead came as similar events in other cities were cancelled including in Birmingham and Manchester.Concerns have been raised over the levels of social distancing observed at the Christmas market in NottinghamMellors Group said "unprecedented high footfall" led to its move to close the site on Sunday
Ms Cox-Brown said many people who had been in touch were "really angry" the event went ahead and felt organisers were "putting their Christmas at risk".Simon Bonsai said he was "hugely disappointed" to see the market closed

I nearly died from covid pneumonia and was in hospital in Nottinghamshire, the ward was full of people like me, I feel so sorry for the nurses and Drs seeing this.

Let's be honest here. It is the people that are at fault. We ALL know the rules re masks and distancing. If I had arrived at that market I would have gone home again, not put myself at risk. I saw a picture outside Harrods in London yesterday that was just the same. I despair.
There is no problem with people shopping. There is absolutely no reason why all the (pointless from the beginning) rules aren’t tossed. We should have full 50k+ crowds at football and all indoor & outdoor events should be back to normal
