The Nigerian Government, on Monday, ordered telecommunications companies to bar outgoing calls on mobile lines not linked with the National Identification Number .This was made known by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, in a statement on Monday.
According to him, the move is part of the implementation of the NIN-SIM linkage Policy of the government.The statement was jointly signed by the Director, Public Affairs, Nigerian Communications Commission, Ikechukwu Adinde; and Head, Corporate Communications, National Identity Management Commission, Kayode Adegoke.Pantami commended Nigerians and legal residents for their support during the exercise to link the NIN to SIM.
Unfortunately the kidnappers are not using their own phone but the the phones of their victims to contact their families. So how do they get their identity.

Laudable policy. But NIN registration was not made easy for the people to register and link up their mobile lines. Until this problem is addressed there will still be a yawning gap.
They will only bar call of innocent people not the one of bandits and Boko Haram.
Right now, I fail to see how the NIN is serving in helping the country manage the current security situation.
