Learn how brandicarlile, Billboard’s 2022 Pride issue cover star, built her career by melding activism with her art.

; and garnered six Grammy nods and three wins — Carlile also became an expert connector between generations in the artist community, supporting its elders and keeping its departed legends’ legacies alive.

Even then, Carlile didn’t turn her focus inward.
