gqinott I do not think it would be right to tax oil companies based on 1-2 months profits due to the volatility of oil. I think that it would be more appropriate to look at average profits over a 5-10 year span to minimize the impacts of short term price trends.
gqinott Ok, but if you average out oil profits through to the beginning of the pandemic how much are they? The problem is oil prices are volatile. The oil companies may do great one month and then suffer from low oil prices for the next twelve months.
