My iPhone 8 Plus is horrible. Slow as molasses.

People use their phones predominantly for the following: - Telephone / texting - Camera / video - Web surfing / e-mail - Maps / directions If Amazon produced a smart phone that did the above superbly for $199, they’d easily conquer most of the market.

It is the price.

Apple’s strategy is flawed in India. Look at the prices: iPhone XR with starting price of $749 in US costs $ 1099 in India. Similarly iPhone XS with starting price of $999 in US costs $ 1429 and iPhone XS Max with starting price of $1099 in US costs $1572 in India.

The iPhone is only one of the products that Apple sells but the premium price point is only needed by the consumer if the are already in the Apple infrastructure. Apple has not sold that to these countries yet. The phone works across every electronic device you have

Why would you buy a phone with 3 year old technology and a limited OS for a huge price tag. Not to mention the recent admission from Apple CEO they don't want anyone interested in free speech.

Amazon

The day of apple is gone.

Apple needs to have some India-only cheap smartphones to compete. The problem is that Indians don't have that much income. Fortunately, Mi and OnePlus don't have an eco-system to be sticky. In this case, Apple still have its chance years later.

When Apple put social engineering over producing a usable and functional product, they forgot what made them successful.

Was living in India about 8 years back, you could hardly see Merc, BMW, Volkswagen in traffic. Mainly Tata and cheaper producers. Merc has a factory in Pune. I think luxury brands are totally fine with selling less units at higher price in India. Why move into the “Red Sea”.

Go to India and make a mockery of their culture and traditions, that will help

issues with iphone in india- price, stupid marketing, lack of local-consumer awareness, os is seen as frustrating, viewed as elitist because of the price (& not worth the money) among many more...

No one want those left garbage. Even Chinese are dumping them

cuz theyre arrogant condescending patronizing & stuck in last century

It would be great if Apple created a low-cost smart phone, But instead they are focused on producing expensive boutique products.

Consumers must be fed up of being ripped off by Apple surely screwing your customers can only last so long.

These markets will be dominated by Chinese producers who offer iPhone lookalikes at something 100 dollar.
