Meta is cutting prices for its VR headsets | CNN Business

The company announced Friday that it is slashing the price of its higher-end Meta Quest Pro headset by some $500, bringing its cost to $999, roughly six months after it was released. Meta is also lowering the price of its Quest 2 headset from $499.99 to $429.99. The price cut for the Quest 2 will go into effect in more than a dozen countries including the United States on Sunday.

The Quest 2 headset is popular in its category but remains a niche product overall. The Quest Pro launched with a high price tag intended for enterprise customers, making it unlikely to move the needle with everyday consumers. And Meta’s flagship social VR app Horizon Worlds can feel like a ghost town . Meta lost $13.7 billion last year in its “Reality Labs” unit, which houses its VR and metaverse efforts.

It is impossible for me to be less interested in buying this. Perhaps if I was a whale or a shrew and I wasnt even aware that it existed.

Meta is a waste of time. It was supposed to be the Future. But it's basically Atari 2600 graphics.

I have rift and it was annoying forcing me to have a sse4 processor, Facebook account (with autorunning app of course) and 20 gb of unreal engine assets just to run a shop. I won't trust Facebook hardware

Read the article and price is still too high to reach the level of users meta wants. Needs to be $199-299… don’t know how they’d work that. I don’t know even know if I’d buy it for that much…
