Since 2017, artists from around the world have been congregating in Cape Town for the only convention of its nature in Africa - The SA International Tattoo Convention, which was founded by Waldo Binneman, a tattoo artist who also owns Cape Electric Tattoo in Cape town.
“When you have a tattoo, we don’t hire you because you have a tendency of being a gangster,” Cele said at the time.We market it in such a way that tattoos become part of people’s daily lives. Everyone in the world today is either tattooed or has a friend or family member who is. The convention is perfectly aligned with how nowadays tattoos are a big part of the music industry, and fashion brands are also using this artform in their own designs.
Lovers of ink visiting the convention will be spoilt for choice when seeking their next piece of art.
