Chamberlain was Mr Lynch's co-defendant in his US fraud trial, in which both were acquitted. It followed the sale of software giant Autonomy for $11bn .Mr Chamberlain was Autonomy's vice president of finance alongside Mr Lynch as chief executive.He was hit by a car in Cambridgeshire just days before the Bayesian superyacht sunk off the Sicily coast, with Mr Lynch and his daughter onboard.

Cambridgeshire Police previously issued an appeal for witnesses after Mr Chamberlain was in collision with a blue Vauxhall Corsa car on the A1123 Newmarket Road near Stretham. The force said the car was travelling between Stretham and Wicken when the collision happened at about 10.10am. Police said the driver of the car, a 49-year-old woman from Haddenham, remained at the scene and was assisting with inquiries.
