A major new game faced backlash for using imagery associated with Black Lives Matter to portray an authoritarian movement

closely associated with the Black rights movement in the United States — in the intro to "Tom Clancy's Elite Squad" is at the heart of criticisms of the new smartphone game.

Protesters can be seen clashing with police as fires rage, and slogans like "Power to the People!" have been spray painted on billboards and protest signs. Following criticism of the game's depiction of the raised fist over the weekend, Ubisoft apologized and said it will remove the imagery in an upcoming update.

Tough call. Seems extreme given that the raised first is a ubiquitous public symbol that predates BLM by at least 100 years. But on the other hand it's usage in the game sounds like something straight out of a right-wing editorial on BLM.

The fist portrayed is from the communist movement
