Danish tug boat giant Svitzer says it will lock out hundreds of employees from 17 ports across the country.

abc.net.au/news/tug-boat-svitzer-union-dispute-port-lock-out/101654570An escalating industrial dispute between maritime unions and Australia's main tug boat operator threatens to disrupt Christmas supply chains, and cause havoc on ports across the country.

The company said the union action has resulted in 250 instances of industrial action since late October, amounting to 2,000 hours of work stoppages. Mr Noes said he was hopeful the dispute could be resolved before Friday's lockout, which he said would cause widespread disruption to the freight industry.

Union filth will only grow bolder while Labor are in charge. Unions own the Labor party

govt needs to step in. but how does it take 3 years to negoitate an EBA really that shows lack of good faith on both sides

the abc fears christmas

The average earnings of all these staff is $200,000 a year. The article does not specify the demands and % wage increases the union is making which sources say started at 40% over three years. These unreasonable demands killed the industry, has the MUA learnt nothing?

Government should lock out Svitzer. Would have thought Tug Boats as essential to our economy. Who sold them off?

First thought: great news, let’s buy less shit this xmas. Second thought: monopolies are really bad and should not be allowed to exist.

they are monopolistic

ABC will always be, part of the Union, till they day they die.

Time to get a new contractor in and create competition and set a higher rate of pay for workers

Maybe the captain is a BLM
