Dorset's Northwood Farm produced dairy products for 60 years but now grows oat, wheat and fava beans.

A former dairy farmer has transformed his business to be solely plant-based.

In October 2022, he received the Biocyclic Vegan Standard, which requires he no longer use livestock or animal by-products. In Autumn 2020, his organic milk contract ended and he said he "had to decide either to give up organic farming or carry on organic but do something else".

Shame

Superb! There's overwhelming evidence that the UK needs to significantly reduce its consumption of meat and dairy if we're to achieve sustainable, local food production for all. Hopefully we see lots more farmers supported in moving out of animal agriculture.

Incongruity of terminology 'Dairy farmer giving up meat'? Just plain mad

Contradiction in terms. 'Dairy farmer going meat free'? Mad, just mad
