A travel agency owned by a woman shown attempting to pull down her neighbour's Aboriginal flag in a viral video has been removed from a national group representing independent businesses
The video, posted to social media on Saturday, showed Mildura residents Karen Ridge and Rob Vigors confronting an Aboriginal family in their home, questioning their Indigeneity and attempting to pull down the family's flag. In a statement on Monday afternoon, Express Travel Group - which represents the largest group of"fully independent" travel agencies in Australia, according to their website - said they would be terminating the membership of Ms Ridge's company, Mildura Travel & Cruise, with immediate effect.
The statement comes a day after McDonald's announced they would be taking control of two northwest Victorian locations of the fast-food chain, McDonald's dumps franchisee after Aboriginal flag row goes viral
Who says you have to be Aboriginal to fly their flag
McDonald's have made a decision they might regret. Using their corporate powers in a situation which is a domestic dispute is definitely breaching the right of free speech and personal beliefs in private life. It cost the ARU heaps.
How about DNA testing? If it wasn't for DNA testing Elizabeth Warren would still be a native American Indian.
SBS Don’t hate the original custodians of the land. Aborigines have been through enough. It is unlucky they didn’t have the physical strength of the Maori. If this incident was in New Zealand those two would piss their pants speaking to a Maori like that.
No one wants to claim to be aboriginal.
OkKaren like she would know. it's still a distruction of property.
