Boeing Co. ousted Chief Executive Dennis Muilenburg as it struggles to contain the fallout of its biggest crisis in decades, caused by two fatal crashes and the subsequent grounding of its 737 MAX jetliner.
The aerospace giant said David Calhoun, a longtime director with deep ties to the aviation and private-equity industries, will become CEO. Mr. Calhoun, 62 years old, is an influential behind-the-scenes figure who became Boeing’s chairman in October in a boardroom shakeup.
