Akesan market is famous for sale of wide range of food items, local artifacts, clothing materials, household utensils and more.
Although the immediate cause of the fire had yet to be confirmed, eyewitnesses said that the inferno started around 12:30am.The Fire Station in Oyo is only few meters to the market. The people of the town reportedly went wild with rage when the official on duty told them that they could not do anything to quell the fire because there was no water in their fire truck.
The enraged mob reportedly set up the truck and other property at the Fire station on fire in protest. As of the time of filing this report, fire fighters from Ibadan, the state capital, had arrived at the scene with a backup from Ogbomoso to battle the inferno.
Beheading can never cure headaches. Our youths should be guided
The fire station is beside the market Oh naija!
They should stop their own fire then 🤷♂️

May God help us on this and we are hoping the federal government would also help.....honestly it is a bad and black Sunday for us all at Oyo town so sadden 😥😥
What those people did is not entirely fair..but, If firefighters can't salvage situations like that then why do they exist..they just come to work and collect huge sum every month as salary..
Who does that?
The only thing our youths know how to do in this country is how to destroy things. Was it the fire station that set the market on fire? Demand infrastructure, security and welfare from your state government?Every market is supposed to have a bank, fire station and police station
Why do we have fire fighters if they can't be useful in time of need? So they just come to work and sleep all day & night at the end they recive salaries with tax payers hard earned money? It is becoming unbecoming of nigerian civil servants. In crises, call d police, d same.
Finally, the one brave, bold and sensible action taken in Nigeria. Kudos guys. If the app isn't working, then delete it from the device. Thank you
It's sad to hear that lives are lost & properties destroyed at Akesan market. Lost lives are irreplaceable, I urge the angry people to avoid worsening the situation. Burning government structures isn't a solution. I urge gov to speed up investigations & compensate those affected.
What does that means?
When u build a market without proper planning and measures to tackle such disasters...and with a people of very poor mentality what do u expect from them..this combination is nothing but a recipe for disaster.
It’s obvious the leaders in Nigeria are the most dumb and foolish in the world... what’s wrong in putting hydrants in market and streets for things like this ?
But seyiamakinde was meant to have all the answers, according to the influenzas?!
Dumb assses. When you will collect bag of rice before voting and you will never protest to get things done, what do you expect? Now they've burnt the fire station I hope the market will be restored back to the way it was before the fire.
'🔥 station'?
They think insanity is the antidote to inefficiency. They just cut off their nostrils to spite their faces
Foolishness of the highest order, so they re now using fire to fight fire?
Foolishness of the foolish. Whose fault and detriment. We should be conscious of our actions at all time.
Oyo no get time..... I like those people
So why
When the next fire happens in their houses or markets, they should be ready with buckets of water to put it out themselves. Mumu dem!🤦♂️ What is their (Presidential material) governor doing about it? Innoson motors now manufactures fire trucks o!,👇
'But why? Afterall' Ori bibe koni ogun ori fifo'
Why are we experiencing fire in all our market at the same time? I think is time we dig deep into the cause of the fire
Set the place on fire is not the solution to their inefficiency. It make it worse.
This is sad...
