Nearly 7 in 10 companies reported talent shortages in 2019, the worst level ever, according to job placement firm Manpower Group.

About 7 in 10 companies reported talent shortages in 2019, the worst level ever, according to Manpower Group.Job placement professionals say companies need to pay more and provide better training.

"The labor market just gets tighter," said Becky Frankiewicz, president of Manpower Group North America. "There's a talent shortage. People are realizing that it's a bit of a crisis." Of course, the flip side is that "skilled workers are calling the shots," Frankiewicz said. "The new angle is you have to start thinking about what workers want. ... It's more than pay, it's benefits. Companies thought it was going to be popcorn and pingpong. People want robust benefit packages. Employees are now stakeholders in companies' ecosystems."

Clayton Brown works in the gig economy, where he's found a way to make a living while fighting a previous employer after the paychecks for himself and fellow workers bounced. The Stamford, Connecticut, resident drives for a private car service in addition to picking up rides with Uber. "We don't get sick days, we have to do our own vehicle repairs," he said. "Whatever check we get we have to use it to do everything."The Manpower surveys show that workers are looking for more than pay — they want flexibility for a better work-life balance as well as strong benefits packages. Money, though, still matters, but getting companies to shell out for workers they don't consider qualified has been a struggle.

"Productivity growth could be enhanced by policies that help workers impacted by technology and technology-enabled disruption to get reskilled. Dallas Fed economists believe that the emphasis on skills training programs could be dramatically increased in the U.S.," Kaplan said.

New manpower survey shows strongest US hiring in the Midwest .ManpowerGroup

That’s what happens when you fired all the mid level people 10 to 20 years ago, no one to move up the ladder.

But I thought IvankaTrump had all these companies training their employees for better paying opportunities?

Manpower group is nothing but Predatory Emotional Extortionist taking hard earned money from people in need. 'YOU FOOLISH PAWN'S' -GREED

What you can’t employ the homeless🤡🤡🤡

im looking for a new job now and i have lots of experience in tech and dont find it easy to get a job. im not sure where these stories come from.

Just look at what’s coming out school and Colleges “JUNK” these idiots that are going into the work place don’t want work and don’t take pride in their work too lazy ... they want live off mama and daddy ...Tell us how we sure do thing and why we doing it wrong 🤬🤬🤬

That’s because technology sucks at finding good talent. In reality, technology is still in its infancy stage but humankind forgets what they ate for dinner 3 days ago. If technology is going to be used to find employment then technology must be improved.

Then they should be calling TalentThrive1 to assist in finding top talent! talentthrive wecanhelp

It's called training on the job! Companies need to do this ASAP! Many people can learn on the job and be great employees but the greed of corporations won't train employees! Give people a chance and help the many college grads that can't find jobs!

Perhaps because they are asking for people with Masters degrees for a $20/ hr entry level position.

if they reported the most sought after “skills” employers are looking for it would be easier to understand where the gap is, and how to better prepare workers

EMPLOYERS SHOULD GO TO COMMUNITY COLLEGES AND FIND TALENTS OVER THERE. AMERICA DOESN'T LACK TALENTS, NEPOTISM HAS PIECE IN THIS PROBLEM.

Symptom of a generation waking up and realizing they can just work for themselves rather than be- Overworked/massive time wasting(failed leadership not adapting/understanding tech) Under utilized(leadership not involved/understanding in processes only focused on pleased BOD)

Job market is wide open lots of jobs everywhere in America where the cost of living is normal not inflated like in the tri state area. It’s never been this good before

Because their cronies kids are incompetent

Then companies should fund programs to get people trained for what they need
