Germany's government ordered 16,000 new ventilators from two domestic producers

panic-buying provoked by the covid-19 pandemic seems overblown. Grocers insist they are not about to run out of food. But in one category of product, scarcity is all too real. Overwhelmed health services are desperately short of mechanical ventilators to help the roughly 10% of sufferers with severe symptoms to breathe. Political leaders are urging existing specialist producers to ramp up production. Germany’s government ordered 16,000 new machines from two domestic producers.

In 2019 ventilator-makers had the capacity to churn out just 40,000 units suitable for intensive care, according to Getinge, a Swedish firm which makes one in four such machines sold worldwide. Most companies build kit, which costs anywhere between $10,000 and $60,000 apiece, to order rather than keep inventories.

Fucking guy never lost their time to make money, from masks to médecines, you pay more you get it.

How much. What can it do and durability.

wooo! ...and how many did you say we need⁉️

Highly doubt it. They probably cost 20% of that to manufacture although I’m not sure. What you’re talking about is the price at which they’re sold for in a banana republic like ours.

price gouging....it's illegal right?

Rubbish, a pandemic ventilator costs 3 to 4 thousand rand

image unrelated, those are dialysis machines

The right way is to test earlier, and to treat as early as possible. and then less people need ventilators, ...

For short breath, try hijama

It should be cheaper It's just a regulated air pump With bimetal switch, it could work

Don’t worry everything will fine by April 15 . I think you should know more about this than me.

deepakmohoni From the US to NZ, all Caucasian nations covered! Well done!

Does this explain the death rate between Germany, the US, and the rest of Europe?

But results in other countries like Italy have shown that the CoronaVirus should have peaked in the U.S. by then. There's also the hope of the new drug therapy.

Promulgation of self isolation may redound to flattening demand curve for equipment. Global supply chain offers sufficient capacity to distribute the supplies like ventilators/medicine. Less advanced countries may well rely on alms for C19. Collaborating is vital to surmount this

We3forDemocracy LearnToCode

It is astonishing how many States didn't get ready stocking the right equipment (IPE included) IN TIME, knowing the possible scenarios in January.

👀

Great news! Finally we're going to make a global revolution! Capitalist / liberal criminal economy is going to collapse soon! We will have a new world order based on welfare and fairness! Keep on spreading the change!!

COVID19: Everyone must understand the scary power of exponential growth: How many days it takes to double the Previous DAY's total number infected: Canada (4), USA (2), Korea (63) - source WHO

What about Biphasic Cuirass Ventilators (BCV)? They are a forgotten ventilation system derived from the Iron Lung. They are non-invasive, simple to run, and readily applicable to this pandemic. BuildBCVs

In 2017, I was in the ICU on a hospital bed costing $70,000. I should have been able to drive it around the hospital.

They should richest people large companies like Amazon Att Sprint Walmart Whole Foods and the billionaires millionaires and the left tilting media all should help including Fox and New york times The Washingtom post Bloomberg should give one billion he has 65 Billion ?

Dialysis units. But maybe the other option is ECMO. it will work.

hackerfantastic A cost that is passed onto insurance and patients... by the way those aren’t vents.

We are trying to bulk manufacture Ventilator splitters and donate to the hospitals. Please help spreading the word:

Well that is shameful. The cost of the sum of their parts, labor and material, does not even come close to 10K or 60K. Capitalist exploitation of a pandemic before and after this crisis. Disgusting greed.

What’s the US price: $200k?

Please change the picture! These are devices for dialysis

realDonaldTrump NYGovCuomo NEEDED NOW Remdesivir, Actemra, Tocilizumab STAT. Not all are responding to Chloroquine & Azith.

What companies it's not mentioned who these are

$50,000 difference?!!! 👀

Annnnnd.... those are dialysis machines...

OMG

A million ventilator kits would cost only 10 billion $, a minuscule part (1%) of the 1 trillion $ stimulus plan now White House and the Congress is negotiating.

Dad says that USA & the rest of the world is panicking w/ medical supplies due to the fault of companies who outsourced the manufacturing of these med supplies. These companies should be penalized, including the pharmaceutical Corp that sent the ingredients to China

They do not, mass produced one in china cost usd7000, nhs often use them and works well.

Whats technology makes price 60k $? Just a 1k $ equipment cant be that much expensive

thabataganga

They can be used for more than one patient. How many patients per? The cost per patient is the metric, not the unit cost.

Odd how they stockpile nuclear weapons and oil yet no medical equipment. It’s almost as though they don’t give a flying fuck about people.

Are there enough people to operate them?

Photos are of dialysis machines

Por eso no hay que salir!!!!!

I see you have refined the art of encapsulating stupidity in your Tweets.

Thank God, they didn't transfer the production line to China!

ventilators NOT so needed... If the situation allows, we only need to open windows and doors as much as possible. 2019nCoV Coronavirus
