A little back story on the significance of Australia to us: I studied abroad in New South Wales in college, went back after graduating to visit my best friend who lives there, took my husband there for our honeymoon, and now we want to go back before our youngest daughter turns 2.

We also know that our situation could change at any moment. We are aware that we could lose part or all of our income if the pandemic doesn't clear up and the economy continues to free fall. But for now, planning a trip is a glimmer of hope in this dark time. I've always gotten joy out of researching vacations, even if they don't actually happen.

That's why we are putting this money into our high-yield savings account, knowing that if we need to take it out to use for expenses or put towards something else other than our planned trip, we can.
