Ex-Xerox CEO Ursula Burns: Companies should 'improve representation for women and for Blacks' or be forced to meet targets. (via CNBCMakeIt)

. "There has to be more of us who are qualified to do these roles," she says, while explaining that setting diversity benchmarks and targets for companies could be a possible solution."I've actually started to switch my thinking a little bit around targets," she says. "I was totally against them and now I'm really starting to investigate and think about whether this would be helpful.

"I think we are at the last step of what I call 'voluntary compliance,'" she says. "If we can't start to improve representation for women and for Blacks then I think that we may be forced to do what Europe has done."has proposed a requirement for companies to have at least 40% women on their corporate boards. Any company that doesn't meet this quota would be required to prioritize women candidates when hiring for future leadership roles.

As a current board member at Uber, Burns says companies have to be more "affirmative about the way [they] approach hiring" and business leaders have to be more proactive in leading discussions about social injustices now and every day moving forward.

MakeIt Let’s promote all the black people and women. Let’s keep all qualified white people at mopping floors and digging holes. They could also get a job at McDonald’s probably. Affirmative action!

MakeIt If they dont have the necessary skill set then why should they! bandwagon

MakeIt Yes folks. Forget about hiring the best and brightest. Now we just need to hire the right % of genders and colors. Wow

MakeIt Isn’t it racist to assume that black people cant’t make it without quotas?

MakeIt Shouldn’t they prove themselves first?

MakeIt Yeah right meet targets, yeah right

MakeIt Winss

MakeIt Did she say “Forced” 🤔🤔

MakeIt You can’t fix a problem by doing the same thing.

MakeIt Affirmative action be around for decades. You want to succeed all you got to do is apply yourself. Blacks do not need any more help in this area!!

MakeIt Ex-xerox! Is she looking for a job by quota? That means she’s not qualified. BTW how will you review the performance of the quota_ed hire? You cannot fire them no matter what?

MakeIt Oh, equity by the force, that is 'new', 'we are not able to succeed, let force everyone', is Chavez still alive?

MakeIt So, no Latinos, handicapped, other under-represented groups? What she says is 'more people like me'

MakeIt 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

MakeIt Companies lack diversity in Senior management jobs period. This needs be addressed they need do better. I was recently passed over for promotion my a whole unqualified white lady. It’s ridiculous in 2020 the are still dealing with this

MakeIt White or Black Burns was a terrible CEO

MakeIt Education should be the first step to improve the situation.

MakeIt And in exchange, since your preaching quotas/fairness ... all levels of sports programs, to make sure athletes are represented by the percentages of race to total population; participation; starting; awards; scholarships; and manager levels; no foreigners allowed!?

MakeIt That's racist... what about Asian, Indian and latinos... only Black matters? What?

MakeIt Feels like we’ve gone backwards

MakeIt Here we go

MakeIt Would she have wanted the job if the only reason she got it was that the company was forced to because of the color of her skin?

MakeIt Force a private company to hire someone?

MakeIt Companies are not racist. Well, they do prefer Green and Black numbers over Red ones. Other than that, they tend to go with who is the most effective.

MakeIt Racial quotas have been unconstitutional since the 1980s

MakeIt And how were shareholder returns during Ms. Burns’ tenure?

MakeIt Be “forced “? How ridiculous. Affirmative action the law of the land until further notice? How about earning it on merit instead of quotas...

MakeIt 'Ex'-Xerox CEO is instructive.

MakeIt Curb immigration. It will dramatically icrease the number of Blacks and Hispanics in STEM.

MakeIt my favorite villains happen to be Ursula & Mr. Burns

MakeIt Affirmative action in private businesses.

MakeIt The best qualified personnel

MakeIt I wanna be forced by her 🤤

MakeIt Or.... they could promote on the basis of qualifications. Just an idea.

MakeIt Merit affirmative action

MakeIt She is the reason that Xerox is irrevelant

MakeIt

MakeIt ....how about ensure non-discrimation laws on book are followed. Saying hey “Kevin you are now a ceo is moronic. It’s going to be like state required minority businesses get x percent of contract it ends up being a scam and not real change.

MakeIt 'Forced' by who exactly? This is not Russia, we don't 'force' companies to do things...

MakeIt Do it or be “forced” to do it.

MakeIt Is coronavirus finished with now

MakeIt 'be forcerd'. omg, we are already living in a socialist dictatorship?

MakeIt Ku Klux Karen is offended by blacklivesmatter sign at INNOCENT coffee shop FULL RACIST VIDEO:
