Axing cars like the Fusion meant eliminating vehicles that mass-market customers found appealing, because they're cheaper on average than SUVs. But those lower prices were a drag on Ford's profits.
Farley, at the time President of Ford's New Businesses, Technology & Strategy arm, laid the groundwork for what he shared with Wall Street last week. Ford confirmed that those vehicles would come to the US . But they'll be designed to support Farley's affordability plan.
