PUTRAJAYA, Oct 14 — The franchise industry has grown well in Malaysia, with 614 local franchisors, 68 master franchisees and 408 foreign franchisors being registered under the Franchise Act 1998, said Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

Nanta said the franchise industry’s socioeconomic contribution to the country could be seen via the Franchise Business Annual Report that each franchisor was required to submit annually. According to him, the foreign countries with the most Malaysian franchise outlets are Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, the United States, Australia and China.
