All change in the valley 😍

Multi-million pound bids for government funding to support Rossendale town centres will be discussed by borough councillors this week.

Levelling-Up bids must follow parliamentary constituency boundaries and require the formal support of the Rossendale and Darwen MP, Jake Berry, the report adds. The Bacup market area design has been significantly revised since a previous ‘Future High Streets’ bid, councillors will be told. These focus on Rawtenstall Market, public spaces, town centre road, pavement and cycle improvements, and a skills and employment hub called The Bridge at Rawtenstall Old Town Hall.

At Rawtenstall Old Town Hall, the bid has been made for facilities and activities with Nelson & Colne College, Rossendale Works and Active Lancashire, which focuses on sport, physical activity. This is a five-year, £2.3 million project to support town centre regeneration, improve community cohesion and well-being, boost business sustainability and to showcase Haslingden’s cultural and heritage assets.
