Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said that some energy and grocery companies are profiteering as he warned that prices will continue to remain high.
READ MORE: Government warned price caps could backfire - leading to increased prices and reduced choice “When it comes to the grocery sector, we're engaging with them on that now, but we expect to see prices come down.” He also warned retailers that the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has beefed up powers and can intervene or launch investigations if there is evidence of “unfair trading, price fixing or cartel-like behaviour”.
