Former University of Cape Town deputy council chair Pheladi Gwangwa and five colleagues have been barred from practising as attorneys amid a probe into whether a law firm stole funds from the Road Accident Fund .

The Supreme Court of Appeal ruled this week that all directors of the personal injury law firm Chueu Inc. Attorneys, where Gwangwa worked until early 2021, bear responsibility for the company's accounts. Chueu Inc. is being investigated by the Limpopo Provincial Council of the SA Legal Practice Council for allegedly embezzling funds it won representing clients in court cases against the Road Accident Fund .Get 14 days free to read all our investigative and in-depth journalism.
