Robert Levin, the visionary executive in the early days of HBO whose career will be forever marred after he orchestrated the merger of AOL, has died at the age of 84. He battled Parkinson's disease since 2006.
Levin was an attorney who joined HBO in 1972 and became CEO a year later. He played a key role in taking HBO to cable companies nationwide and arranging the acquisition of Warner Communications.
