Market vendors in Iloilo City display their certificates after successfully completing a financial literacy training program which is a collaborative initiative by BDO Foundation and the Iloilo City local government aimed at empowering local entrepreneurs. The initiative, which benefited 200 market vendors, aims to empower local entrepreneurs with the essential knowledge and skills to manage their finances effectively and sustainably.
It consisted of two modules with the first module covering the basics of financial literacy, including budgeting, saving, financial planning and debt management. The foundation also provided training to LGU trainers to ensure the continuity of the program for more market vendors within the city. One of the program’s graduates shared her experience the program has been a big help to us market vendors. “We learned how to care for and grow our income and save for our future. We are grateful to BDO Foundation and our LGU for this opportunity,” the vendor said.They opened accounts with BDO Network Bank, where the incentives were deposited, allowing them to manage their finances actively and use banking services.
