Nottingham Forest’s recent success in the transfer market is paying dividends on the pitch - and a new study has backed this up.
The Reds are reaping the rewards of some considered and sensible business done in the summer. The likes of Nikola Milenkovic, Elliot Anderson and Alex Moreno have made positive early impressions since their moves to the City Ground. And players already at the club, such as Murillo, Morgan Gibbs-White and Callum Hudson-Odoi, have continued to catch the eye.
Transfermarkt have added up the total cost of each top flight club’s entire active squad and divided that by their points won so far this term. At €16.7 million paid out per point earned, Forest have spent the third-lowest amount pro rata. Southampton are bottom of the table with €63m . This indicates that their “investments have not translated into effective performance”.
