US stocks gained on Friday to close out a week that saw multiple major indexes hit records. The benchmarkMajor indexes erased early losses and gained through the day on positive economic data. US existing home sales posted a second-straight record jump on Friday,to a seasonally adjusted rate of 5.86 million, according to the National Association of Realtors.
Economists surveyed by Bloomberg expected a jump to 5.41 million. Home sales have been bolstered by deferred demand and historically low mortgage rates.
