A growing band of candidates in the next election aim to triumph again in seats they lost to Boris Johnson's Tories four years ago

spoke to about their comeback plans.

That ambition to get back to parliament as soon as they lost in 2019 was instant for Mr Grogan, Mr Jones and Mr Snell. But, unlike the post-2015 period when three elections were held in five years, they’ve been forced to wait a full term for a tilt at a comeback. Both Mr Snell and Mr Jones worked for the Labour Party, did charity work and took the chance to spend more time with their families.

“But the risk is that they give up, and I think my job and our job in the Labour Party is to offer a sense of can-do and know-how so they don’t give up hope.”their areas hasn’t borne fruit, and that voters had become “cynical” over the false promises.
