THE House Committee on House Ways and Means approved last Tuesday an unnumbered substitute bill that would boost stock market volumes and may benefit pension funds of the Government Service Insurance System , the Social Security System and the Philippine Insurance Corp. , as well as corporate pension plans provided to employees.
Likewise, Salceda said the expansion of the definition of shares of stocks was made upon the proposal of the Philippine Stock Exchange Inc., a private non-profit and non-stock organization overseeing the market. Salceda said he also pushed the Securities and Exchange Commission to undertake measures to protect small retail investors in the stock market.
