A vegan supermarket in Nottingham has been closed just months after opening, with its owner admitting he expected business "would be better". The Lime Green Organic Vegan shop, which opened in Gedling Street near Sneinton Market in June, has now closed its doors for good.

Nejdet Kaya, who started the business, said there was "no market" for the shop, which stocked hundreds of products. "There wasn't many customers," he said. "There's no point in keeping it open, I expected it would be better than it was." Signs for a new Turkish restaurant, which is said to be opening soon, have been placed on the front of the unit.Mr Kaya, who also owns the Murat Supermarket in Sneinton Market, said he was not sure when the opening date will be. The Organic Vegan shop sold fresh fruit and vegetables and frozen foods, as well as a variety of other foodstuffs and baby and cleaning products.

Speaking to Nottinghamshire Live shortly after its opening, shoppers predicted it would be a success due to its city centre location and the large student population.
