Glass bottle attack in Old Market Square leaves man in hospital

A man has been taken to hospital after reportedly being hit with a glass bottle to the head in the Old Market Square. Nottinghamshire Police says it received reports of a man being assaulted by a group of people at around 5.15pm on Monday .

The force says it believes that the victim was punched, kicked and hit to the head with the bottle. The man suffered a cut to his head and was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital for treatment. It was reported that the incident took place near the Five Guys restaurant in the square, with a police car seen outside the venue at around 5pm. Police are checking CCTV footage to try and identify those involved in the assault.Anyone who saw what happened, who may have recorded CCTV, dashcam, or mobile phone footage of the incident should call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 548 of 20 May 2024. Crimestoppers can also be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
