Mabuyane says he opened a case against Dalindyebo for his alleged remarks that Mabuyane was a beneficiary of protection fee activities.

Dalindyebo was addressing the residents of Mthatha West three weeks ago, following the closure of a school in the area due to alleged extortion demands. Police spokesperson Siphokazi Mawisa says, “The police can confirm that the Premier of the Eastern Cape opened a case of crimen injuria at Bhisho Police station. In another incident, the MEC for Transport and Community Safety in the Eastern Cape opened a case of crimen injuria at the Cambridge Police station on Monday. In both cases there are no arrests at this stage and an investigation is underway.
