CNBC asked genetics experts to weigh in on why the consumer DNA market has stalled. And how 23andMe, Ancestry and others can continue to scale their businesses in light of that.

They might sell our DNA or allow it to be 'stolen' for a fee. It might be used to make unique vaccines for unique diseases to which we might be suseptible and be patented. This could save them. God save the DNA testers.
