"Every single policy area in the United States has a gigantic subtext of race," he said."We're talking about education. We're talking about criminal justice. We're talking about housing. We're talking about loans."
Carter read the total aloud:"Two-hundred-and-eighty-thousand dollars, seventy-four dollars and fifty-eight cents." "You can kind of see the structure and see the opportunity instead of drowning in your situation," said Jessica Bright, South Carolina state director for Sanders."So definitely the time is right to change structurally, change the systems that we're going up against."
That doesn't mean they give Trump credit, though. Joyce Delk, who went doorknocking in South Carolina for Biden last week, gives him some credit for today's economy.
Yes but wages are so low people need two jobs to survive! That’s because billionaires want to keep workers cheap! Bernie Sanders will increase wages and tax rich👍
The problem is it's hard to go against the 'free stuff' campaign and endless tax hikes for many. Especially the ones who don't pay taxes to begin with. Democrats offer nothing new. Their speeches are decades old promises that are never kept. They just keep repeating it.
Housing costs to income in SC is high, thanks to overreaching government regulations at all levels. Notice how primary/caucus results are reported in percentages. Dem turnout is very low. 1) poor candidates despite MSM hype, 2) Trump haters small in numbers, but highly vocal
Until the market crashes.......0
Because alot of people are working two or more jobs for basic living
So if I run a business but favor the non-incumbent challenger I should fire my team as Nov. approaches.
On my way! To vote Bernie right now.
Strawberry car to be my ass. The only thing that appeared to be strong was a propped up stock market that is now adjusting to it real level
The “employed” people who live paycheck to paycheck will be voting for PresidentBernieSanders. It’s not “consumer confidence” when we spend our entire paychecks, it’s Survival.
1975, was the first and last time SC helped to elect a Democrat as POTUS
Yes, thank you Obama! For a ten year strong economy.
You can keep the prosperity you have now, or trade it in on an 80 year old communist with a heart condition that praises Fidel Castro, a 70 year old harridan that sounds like your ex-wife, or a 77 year old near senile hair-sniffer that cant remember his lines. Choose wisely.
Congrats NPR on writing a little less biased article.
OMG...NPR published a loosely based positive article America and its president...It’s getting cold in hell...
I’d say hold 5he phone on this one. I’m not confident, especially after the last week. And yes, there are jobs, and then jobs that pay well. Not all are equal.
A strong economy isn't all about working two low paying jobs to cover inflated rents and ridiculous insurance premiums. We're in trouble.
wow probably made the same $$ in 1988 amazing progress !
What strong job market? It's estimated that 40% of the workers are now gig workers with low pay and no benefits and can be dumped within a moment's notice. The next recession could likely be a depression.
So the big question is whether they'll understand enough about trend-lines to follow that I'm still riding in Obama's wake and claiming those gains as my own.
Low unemployment for blacks in America is absolute “FAKE NEWS”. for those who disagree, drive thru any black neighborhood count the males standing around. 1/2 your count is probably unemployable, the others truly wanna work....
Give it a couple months.
Most people in US , which includes SC can read and know that the economy was saved by Obama Adm and continued on an upward trajectory. Congratulations to DT for not yet mucking that up.
Good
You guys know places like supermarkets, fast food restaurants, and big box stores literally never take down the 'now hiring' signs anywhere right? Maybe write a story about that.
You’re showing that a grocery store is hiring. Most likely, not a living wage
I voted for Bernie today and hope he wins the primary BernieBeatsTrump
Strong economies don’t have low interest rates either. If the economy were truly strong you wouldn’t need to keep lower rates to entice borrowing and spending.
'But for' - causation 'In spite of' - not caused by The economy continues in spite of trump's angry midnight corner tweets
Ummm, we just lost in three days everything gain in the stock market
Uh, didn't help Bush I.
