I have no sympathy for the hotels who have for years charged outrageous fees for their rooms.
Well maybe they should open as temporary hospitals
Hotel Le St. James in Old Montreal closed their doors officially at 12:00 (midnight) on Tuesday! Queen E , Ritz Carlton and many others are now closed until at least end of April !

The hotels should instead prepare, perhaps, to convert to hospital care rooms if this pandemic gets as terrible as we see in Italy. Be part of the solution, worry about business when this is over.
