While Australia has made impressive strides over the past few years, we still have a “way to go” in terms of investing in artificial intelligence, according to Associate Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at UTS Professor Michael Blumenstein. Australia lags well behind China, US, Germany, Japan and Canada when it comes to funding focused AI programs and activities.

Professor Blumenstein told Sky News there needs to be a holistic response to We have to look at all these things, not just investment from government, but from the industry sector, we’ve got to grow the large industry players who can open up research labs that we can then nurture the start-up ecosystem with,” he said. “You have got to align the university sector, with the industry and with government, because that is where we really need to focus on the ecosystem and investment.

ACSnewsfeed 'A long way to go' ...no kidding after the robodebt stuff up. One of those AI driven programs that went off the rails.

ACSnewsfeed Yeah we don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves with AI. You won’t like what evolves from it. The fact that everyone will have a quantum computer within the next 2 decades is frightening enough, one that thinks for itself should scare the shite out of you!

Premier Andrews 'rebuked by federal Labor' for Vic-China investment deal | Sky News AustraliaMedia Commentator Karalee Katsambanis says the fact “Daniel Andrews has been rebuked by federal Labor” should “raise alarm bells and red flags”. \n\nVictoria is expected to officially engage in the controversial $24.5 billion infrastructure program with China later this year, which is in direct contradiction to the federal government's public approach to the Belt and Roads initiative.\n\nMs Katsambanis said Nations including the United Kingdom and the United States have issued warnings against signing on to China’s Belt and Roads Initiative.\n\nWhy isn’t there a federal power “to stop Daniel Andrews from doing this to the state of Victoria,” she asked. \n\nSky News host Gary Hardgrave drew a comparison between Hong Kong and the state of Victoria suggesting both were being compromised by the Communist regime. \n\nImage: News Corp Australia Karalee K and her husband r pathetic Curious isn't it that this wave of Sinophobia mainly focuses on Daniel Andrews rather than the huge Australian companies like BHP that sell them huge amounts of resources. Nor does it explain what is wrong with one belt and road.

Vic work-from-home order a ‘slap in the face’ for business | Sky News AustraliaPremier Daniel Andrews’ decision to enforce a work-from-home order on the Victorian business sector was “completely disingenuous,” according to LNP MP Jon Krause. \n\nVictoria will introduce a public health order on Monday which will prohibit people from returning to their workplace if they have been working from home throughout the coronavirus crisis. \n\nPremier Daniel Andrews announced businesses would face hefty fines for breaching the order as health authorities warned the risk of a second wave was too great to allow people to return to work.\n\nMr Krause said Mr Andrews “has enjoyed the extra power that has come with this health crisis” and his collaboration with China over the Belt and Road initiative may have given him the opportunity to “learn from the socialist masters in Beijing about how to control the economy and the population”.\n\nTime, money and human resources have been invested by the private sector to ensure businesses could continue to function throughout the coronavirus-imposed lockdown.\n\nMr Krause said, “I think it is a bit of a slap in the face” for all those businesses who have done the “right thing”.\n Stop quoting the opinions of your preferred politicians and start reporting actual news I thought they were listening to the experts? Fauci says this... after listening to the train driver talking about recirculated air on the carriages on tonights news... I'm with Dan
