“We’re a certified organic, cold-pressed, veggie and fruit juice company,” says Nolan. They cold press their juices daily from a variety of fresh, locally-grown produce, using “everything from kale to carrots to apples, which make up a menu of about 20 nutrient-packed juices and cleansers.” In addition to operating one physical location with a production facility in the back and a retail shop in the front, they also support online orders and deliver to neighboring homes and businesses.
Hard pressed for a solution, Nolan and de Moses had the idea to involve their customer community. By offering Emergency Personnel Packages to purchase, customers could donate juices to an area hospital of their choice. “We created a special package on our website that allows customers to order their own juice and, at the same time, donate juice to emergency personnel,” says de Moses. “We are essentially splitting the cost with the customer and delivering the packages for free.
Nolan emphasizes that mobile technology has played a huge part in enabling Portland Juice Company to shift their business. “It’s an integral part of the entire operation and that communication with the community, customers, and team members is essential.” From smartphones for delivery drivers to tablets for retail point-of-sale and other operations, the company relies on T-Mobile’s network to keep running.
TMobileBusiness If its business model isn't to make money, then they had damned well better rethink it.
