Boris Johnson says Europe is being hit by a second coronavirus wave, as countries bring back restrictions

Countries across Europe are re-imposing stricter social distancing measures, including curfews and quarantines, after a rise in cases.

The World Health Organisation chief said the pandemic 'continues to accelerate' globally and said that global cases had roughly doubled in the last six weeks.The UK has reimposed a coronavirus quarantine on arrivals from Spain.Europe appears to be at the beginning of a second coronavirus wave, UK prime minister Boris Johnson said on Tuesday, after a number of countries on the continent started to reimpose lockdown restrictions following an uptick in cases.

"Let's be absolutely clear about what's happening in Europe: Amongst some of our European friends, I'm afraid you are starting to see in some places the signs of a second wave of the pandemic," Johnson told Sky News.
