Craig Salmon rattles off the benefits of electric cars with the swagger of a veteran car mechanic and the zeal of someone who is watching a profound historic change play out on his workshop floor.
Did you forget charge times?
I am not sure that this is 100% true, or even honest. We’re there to be a rapid shift to pure EVs rather than a two step one via hybrids, the power generation, distribution and the environmental impact would be difficult if not impossible to cope with. It needs a good 10 years.
Besides this, Tesla has a taste for coups... it’s not okay
And resource extraction for batteries. But let’s ignore that detail.
They have more than just a few downsides for people who don’t have a driveway or garage that can fit a car.
Price and also the modifications necessary to your house and also mileage and maintenance (replacing the battery)
Err and that your long journey will be even longer. Or impossible.
. Ok, but electricity doesn’t equal green as the image suggests. This is as simplistic as Trump wanting to drink disinfectant against coronavirus. My 15+ year old vehicle has been using renewable fuel from waste for ages! .
Better but hardly without downsides (worse for road runoff pollution & as bad for waste of land for car storage, obesity, disconnection from community & nature...etc etc). If anything, price is an upside as it ultimately may reduce car use
Since when a car is green ?
We are going to need more power stations if we all adopt electric vehicles quickly, that's a downside.
Maybe just maybe the slave labour to extract elements for the batteries that contain nasty difficult to deal with chemicals. Maybe the fact that we make pollution at the power station to create the electricity. Don’t say biomass, that’s burning trees on a massive scale, not good!
Anyone arguing against the long-term gains of going full EV versus staying dependent on fossil fuels hates America and hates the world.
they want to give them ...more downsides?
