Tanaiste Leo Varadkar says he expects "tens of thousands" to apply for a grant for small businesses to support them through the Covid-19 crisis.
He said: "It is taxpayers' money so there does have to be checks and controls, but I'm assured that as of today, all local authorities will be open for applications, and it does involve a certain amount of form filling, but we'll try and make it as unbureaucratic as possible." Businesses with fewer than 50 employees may apply again even if they have already received the initial restart grant.Mr Varadkar explained: "If you got the minimum of €2,000 already, you'll get another €4,000, that's a total of €6,000.
