Slack explains how deepening its partnership with Australian software giant Atlassian will help it serve software developers— and stave off Microsoft Teams

— work together with Slack more seamlessly, expanding on existing integrations. Slack will also offer Atlassian customers a discount on the paid plans, assuming they're a new user.

This next step will take it even further, Brad Armstrong, Slack's head of business and development, told Business Insider. The combination of Slack with Atlassian tools like Jira or Confluence is a common one in the software world, said Bryant Lee, Atlassian's head of partnerships. The better those tools work together, the better it is for users.The first step will be to link a user's accounts in Slack and their Atlassian products together, so that it's easier to pass information back and forth. The two executives describe it as using Slack like a passport into the whole Atlassian ecosystem.
