Finance Minister Travis Toews says a similar approach used in recently announced cuts to Alberta Health Services needs to be applied to every ministry as the United Conservative government looks for efficiencies in delivering services

The Canadian Press

Health Minister Tyler Shandro has said he will cut up to 11,000 jobs at Alberta Health Services to save money – a move the Opposition NDP says is cruel and will create chaos in the health-care system.

is it the job of a smart finance minister to make cuts ? the cuts appear to be political actions rather than smart financial measures.

Perhaps they should lead by example and take a pay cut as Alberta MP’s are the highest paid in Canada, maybe trim their own expense accounts and travel less and use zoom more like working people..

Yet no mention of MLA salaries ( the highest in Canada), nor reduction in legislature budgets. abpoli

When are the cuts going to happen to you guys? Oh no, you have another buddies son that needs a good paying job

Perhaps if Alberta had imposed a sales tax and raised its income tax rates during the hurly-burly years, perhaps some of their fiscal problems wouldn’t be as dire as they appear.
