After years of fighting on opposite sides, Netflix and the French film industry are making nice, partnering to preserve and promote French cinema culture

In a sign of the streaming giant's closer ties with the French film industry, Netflix is co-financing a restoration of Abel Gance's 1927 classic 'Napoleon' and will back screenings and talks with the Cinémathèque Française. The streaming giant this week unveiled partnerships with the French National Film Board and the Cinémathèque Française, a non-profit group devoted to the preservation and promotion of French cinema culture.

Netflix also announced it would continue its partnership with the Cinémathèque Française on a series of screenings, conferences, and masterclasses.
