Hotel quarantine contracts are keeping some companies afloat, but occupancy rates are still well-down on pre-COVID levels and it could take years before many city hotels return to profitability.

He said Accor is the largest player in the industry, owning the Sofitel, Pullman, Ibis and Mantra hotel brands to name a few.

"Also, a lot of these smaller hotels aren't getting the quarantine contracts because they can't house enough travellers." "They've performed really well, and not at discount pricing — we use dynamic pricing and if there is demand, the prices of the rooms do go up." International tourism, business travel and conferencing are significant earners for hotels, particularly in the CBDs.

Kinda gotta wonder if some of the more lucrative deals are going to mates.
