Amazon already offers three Echo devices with displays: the Echo Show 10, Echo Show 8, and Echo Show 5, which have 10-inch, 8-inch, and 5.5-inch displays, respectively. The Echo Show, which costs $250 at the high end, is designed to sit on a counter or table-top, but third-party accessories-makers make wall mounts for the device.
Bloomberg notes that Amazon's new device would be competing with smart home control displays that are professionally installed, as well as Apple's iPad, which can also be wall-mounted or framed into wall. Absolutely no use until smart home devices are much cheaper. I paid £120 for a smart kettle that burned out in 9 month.. my £15 replacement had lasted longer.. smart light switches, sockets etc all upwards of £85... doorbell £180.. locks and so forth all orders of magnitude more.
I have one; it's called an iPad with a wall mount.
Why would I want a 'smart' home and why would I want Amazon in my home? Smart or otherwise. Amazon is like someone you just had lunch with thinking it's appropriate to put their hand down your pants. Stick to online retailing and video streaming. The rest is NOT OK.
