Concerted push required to revitalise franchise industry in Malaysia, says PM

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 14 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said concerted efforts from various agencies and industry players were needed to revitalise the franchise industry momentum in the next five years.

This was for the purpose of training local franchise businesses in the international franchise management and practices, business matching and trade missions, as well as reimbursable of export costs, he said. The FIM is the sole large-scale franchise exhibition in Malaysia recognised by the World Franchise Council and the Asia Pacific Franchise Confederation .

Expounding that the franchise industry has a very special meaning to him as he had helmed KPDNHEP before, Ismail Sabri said the Malaysian franchise industry recorded a sales figure of RM13.3 billion in 2019 and about RM5.2 billion in 2020.
