Morale is slipping among Ontario businesses as experts predict surging COVID-19 cases and further restrictions on indoor gatherings to stop the spread of the highly-contagious Omicron variant.
“We started to see that attitude bubble up among small businesses in Ontario all the way back in September,” said Mallough. “This is an extraordinarily contagious variant that is absolutely going to hike the hospitalization rate,” warned Colin Furness, an epidemiologist at the University of Toronto. “I don’t know if we’ll go back into full lockdowns, but I wouldn’t be surprised,” said Paul Brown, owner of Paul Brown Boxfit. “We’re used to it by now.”
Absolutely devastating for small businesses. There will be more impacts as I can't see people wanting to stay in this industry with such insecurity...will be harder to find people to employ.
