Former Archbishop of Cape Town and veteran anti-apartheid campaigner Desmond Tutu holds a mass at Cape Town's Anglican St George's Cathedral December 6, 2013.
At a memorial service at Johannesburg’s Saint Mary’s Cathedral earlier on Thursday, Reverend Frank Chikane says theHe says Tutu spoke openly on the political landscape in the country, as he felt that what he had fought for was being destroyed. Chikane paid a moving tribute to Tutu. “My last encounter with him he was stressed, he was disappointed about what was happening. He did not think that this is what we struggled for and I had to plead with him and I said to him, arch leave this problem with us. You are too old to worry about it. We will do whatever is necessary to end this pain of our people,” says Chikane.
The foundation says the evening will be a celebration of the Archbishop Emeritus’s life with those who were closest to him. Former first lady Graca Machel, the former president of Ireland Mary Robinson and many other close friends of the Arch and his wife Leah are expected to be in attendance.
What purpose does it serve to be buried with a cheap coffin over a government paid funeral and after living a wealth life, isn't a mockery to us the real poor?🙄🙄🙄🙄
