Japan is famous for its deep powder snow in the wintertime, and around this time of year, many Australian skiers and snowboarders would be looking to travel to its ski resorts.

However, with the country implementing strict international border control measures, businesses have been drastically affected.

“We can’t wait until things reopen and we can welcome everyone back to our amazing Japanese powder snow; it’s the best in the world, and we can’t wait,” Mr Toner told Sky News Australia.“We obviously heavily rely on international tourism here in Japan, so we’ve pivoted and done the best we can to target expats and Japanese, but Japan’s an international ski destination, so without that travel, it’s difficult.
